"A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song." --Chinese Proverb

Have you ever listened to a still bird for several minutes? If so, you’ve heard its little trills and

warbles. I’m not a professional bird watcher. Not even an amateur one. But listen carefully and you’ll hear that the bird continually sings the same song over and over. Birds also have a bird call for communnication, which is different from their bird song.

When listening to a bird, I detect that each bird has only one song. That’s what makes each kind of bird unique. Of course their coloring and overall appearance make birds unique but their song makes them even more unique. How would we feel if we had only one thought to express or one facial expression to wear?

If you’ll watch a bird closely you’ll see that even though it has only one song, it gives its all when singing that song. The bird never quits singing its song. A bird is indeed a small, feathered bundle of determination and consistency.

Can we say as much for humans? We have vast capabilities and vocabularies yet sometimes we do get bored, tired, and want to quit in the middle of a struggle or task. Many times I look to our animal kingdom for encouragement and inspiration. And a little bird is one of the best sources for both.

What song are you singing today? Will you give it 110% like the little birds?
