Is Forgiving Easy?

I plan to post here on Lifelines every Monday. I hope you find this blog inspiring and entertaining, perhaps finding a nugget of wisdom to help you in days to come. "At the time, I thought I did the right thing. I was wrong and I forgive myself." --Cecil Murphey, American author, with Don Piper, of 90 Minutes in Heaven.

Forgive yourself. And one way to help you do that is

to say the quotation above. Convince yourself of your self-worth when you say the words.

It is difficult to forgive ourselves. Sometimes we mentally dig up past incidents and berate our action or words. Many times we allow the past to rob us of the pleasures of the present.

At times even believers who know God forgives, cannot forgive themselves. They think of themselves as failures because of bad choices. Forgiving others becomes easier than self-forgiveness.
Not forgiving yourself will create a burden that you must carry. And until you forgive yourself, that burden may progressively become heavier.

Try using the words in the quotation above. Say them and mean what they say. Because God loves us, we can love ourselves. And by loving ourselves, we can forgive ourselves. It may not be easy but it is possible. Let’s try to forgive ourselves.
